James William & Polly Maria Hall Duckworth's son, William James Duckworth, married Emma ALSTON. Their daughter, Bessie Ina Duckworth, married Charles Walker LUTES. Charlie & Bessie had five children.

James William DUCKWORTH was born 16 Jan 1816 in Gisburn, Lancashire, England (FamilySearch.org & Wikipedia.com). He died on 16 Feb 1877 in Tilden, IL (death record) from double pneumonia (34 days) and typhoid fever (16 days). He is buried in Coulterville Cemetery in Randolph County, IL. He was a farmer.

James came to New York from England at the age of 22 arriving on 21 May 1838. He departed England through the port of Liverpool on the Ship "Pennsylvania". He was listed on the Ship's manifest as a laborer. James was on the same Ship as a man named William Alston (age 26), possibly kin to Andrew Alston, the father of Emma Marie Alston who married James' son, William James Duckworth.

James married Polly Maria HALL, daughter of Jacob HALL & Molly (or Polly) PRICHARD, on 23 Oct 1842 in Randolph County, IL. Maria was born on 5 Oct 1816 in Connecticut. She died in 16 Dec 1893 in Illinois. James & Polly were married in the Presbyterian Church.

Her brother may have been Lucien Hall, born in Connecticut, age 24 in the 1850 Census for Randolph County, IL. Lucien's wife is listed as Elizabeth, age 23, born in Illinois. Their daughter is Josephine, age 4, born in Illinois. Their son is Adam, age 2, born in Illinois.

James & Polly owned 137 acres of land located on the southwestern side of the road at the corner of what is now State Route 13 and the Ziegler Mine Road between Coulterville and Tilden, IL (per Clifton Duckworth, b. 1942.)

James & Polly had the following children.

Mary L. DUCKWORTH was born about 1842 in Randolph County, IL. She married William WASSON on 5 Oct 1865 in Randolph County, IL. William was born about 1832 in Ireland, arrived in New York on 24 Sept 1856. He served as a Private during the Civil War in the 10th Missouri Infantry Regiment (Union). They raised seven children mostly in Franklin & Williamson Counties. Both are buried in Coulterville, IL.

Alice Maria DUCKWORTH was born on 24 Feb 1849 in Randolph County, IL. She died on 25 Jan 1913. Alice married John Linn McGUIRE on 3 Feb 1877. John was born on 11 Feb 1839 in Illinois. He died on 21 Jul 1914. John & Alice had one child (name unknown).
